How to tell a genuine solar panel from a fake
Four checks worth making before you buy panels anywhere in Nigeria, from us or from anyone else.
Check the serial number
Every genuine module carries a unique serial traceable to the manufacturer. If a seller will not show you serials before payment, walk away.
Confirm it is A-grade, not B-stock
Re-labelled, downrated and refurbished panels are common in this market. A panel sold as 620W should flash-test at 620W, not 480W with a new sticker.
Ask for the real datasheet
The official datasheet and flash-test report should match the module in front of you, model number, dimensions and electrical figures included.
Verify the warranty is the manufacturer's
A tier-1 panel is warrantied by the maker, not just the trader. That is what still protects you in year fifteen, long after the invoice is forgotten.

How many panels will you need?
At 620W a module, ten panels give you roughly 6.2 kWp of array, enough to carry a typical Lagos home's daytime load and refill a battery bank before evening. The right number depends on your usage, your roof and your inverter, which is what the sizing guide walks through.
